Web applications & SaaS

Custom web application and SaaS development

When a spreadsheet, a stack of disconnected tools or an off-the-shelf product stops fitting how your business works, a custom web application can. I build full-stack web applications and SaaS products end to end — data model, back end, interface, integrations and deployment — with Next.js, TypeScript and PostgreSQL.

Who this is for

  • Founders building a SaaS product that needs accounts, billing and a real data model
  • Businesses replacing spreadsheets or manual processes with an internal tool or client portal
  • Teams that need an existing web application extended, stabilised or rebuilt

Problems this solves

  • Core workflows run on spreadsheets, email and copy-paste between tools
  • An off-the-shelf product covers 70% of what you need and blocks the rest
  • A prototype or no-code build has outgrown its platform
  • You need a product your customers will log into and pay for

What is included

  • Requirements and scope workshop to agree what the first release must do
  • Data model and API design
  • Authentication, user roles and permissions
  • Admin and customer-facing dashboards
  • Payments and subscriptions or credit-based billing
  • Third-party integrations through REST APIs and webhooks
  • Deployment, environment configuration and handover documentation

Technical capabilities

  • Next.js App Router, React and TypeScript
  • Node.js and Express APIs
  • PostgreSQL with Prisma, plus MongoDB and MySQL
  • Authentication with NextAuth and Firebase
  • Payment gateways and usage-based billing
  • AWS (EC2, Amplify, S3) and Vercel deployments
  • AI features with LLM APIs

What you receive

  • A deployed application on your own hosting and accounts
  • Source code in your repository
  • Environment and deployment notes
  • A walkthrough of the codebase and admin features

What affects scope and cost

Every quote is based on a written scope. These are the factors that usually move it the most:

  • Number of user roles and how permissions differ between them
  • Integrations with payment providers, CRMs or internal systems
  • Data migration from an existing system
  • Reporting and analytics requirements
  • Compliance, audit or data-residency requirements

How to get started

  1. 01Send a short description of your project through the inquiry form — a few sentences is enough.
  2. 02We have a 30-minute video call at a time that suits your time zone.
  3. 03You receive a written scope with milestones and a quote for each.

Questions about web applications & saas

Do I own the code?

Yes. The code lives in a repository you control and the application is deployed to accounts in your name, so you are never locked in.

Can you work on an existing application?

Yes. I start with a short review of the codebase, hosting and open issues, then agree on priorities — fixes, new features or a gradual rebuild — before changing anything.

How do you price a web application?

After an initial call I send a written scope with milestones and a quote for each. The main cost drivers are listed on this page; I do not quote a number before understanding the work.

Have a project in mind?

Tell me what you are building and where you are stuck. I will come back with questions or next steps — and if I am not the right fit, I will say so.
